Food Safety in Plastic Packaging: what is it based on?

Did you know that packaging has to meet a number of standards? Ensuring food safety in plastic packaging is a top priority. Plastic packaging must comply with numerous regulations before it is destined for food consumption

The regulations group together the hygienic and sanitary conditions that must be respected by all parties involved in the manufacture of plastics. They also include all processes and safety assessments for distributors.

Food Safety in Plastic Packaging:

The concept of food safety and its relationship with plastic packaging is vital in the hospitality world, so we at Monouso have decided to simplify the standards to apply to your business. This way, you will know what standards your plastic packaging must meet to avoid any kind of inconvenience.

Are safety rules important in plastic containers?

The safety standards for these packaging are those that control the origin and manufacture of plastics. If there were no agencies charged with monitoring them, the harmful conditions would multiply.

And what would the result be? Without safety rules, diseases and infections due to bad manufacturing practices would be rampant.

Plastic in particular goes through numerous processes before the final product. In each of them it is exposed to a myriad of bacteria that could endanger the health of consumers, so this material must be subjected to all kinds of controls.

Nowadays, recyclable plastic is becoming more and more popular on the market. The reused material requires more complex treatments before fulfilling the required sanitary conditions.

Care must be taken when using reusable materials, improper treatment can put the health of all consumers at risk.

How do I know which products are approved?

The packaging must always specify the name of the manufacturer, the production lot and the number of the type of plastic. This way, they can be traced in case of manufacturing defects.

It is essential to only buy plastic from verified and recognized companies. It is not common to find products without references. If you do, they are likely not meeting minimum food safety standards. If so, you should immediately throw those products away.

They must include EU regulation no. 10/2011, the framework regulation 1935/2004 and the regulation (EC) 2023/2006. Every company must have specialists or partners with these regulations.

Food safety and plastic packaging in catering:

On the other hand, the food safety of plastic packaging does not depend only on the producers. Every company that uses these containers must participate in the food safety chain. To do this, just follow these recommendations:

  • Keep them away from other goods.
  • Check the packages carefully to make sure there are no openings that could allow dirt to enter.
  • If you remove them from their packaging, keep them in clean and tightly closed cabinets.
  • Make sure you have clean hands before using them.
  • Avoid accumulation.

By following these steps, your company's food safety will never be compromised. As a result, you won't have to face fines, closures, and most importantly, you won't risk the health of your customers.

What are the Most Popular Fast Food in Italy?

What will be the online reputations of fast food chains in Italy?

The “junk food” theme is always much discussed. As we know, by "junk food" we mean a series of foods, typically industrial, characterized mainly by high caloric intake and reduced nutritional value.

The sides in this regard are divided between those who prefer healthy eating and those who, on the other hand, do not give up on a nice sandwich filled with sauces accompanied by fries.

What are the most loved fast food by Italians? And which are the most talked about?

Opinion mining and sentiment analysis firm T-Voice did a research to find out.

It analyzed opinions and feelings expressed on the web and on social networks through its artificial intelligence algorithms, conducting an analysis on a sample of more than 60 thousand texts in Italian relating to the theme of fast food, in the period from 1 January 2020 to February 15, 2021.

The web opinion index, or, in jargon, the buzz, was calculated on a scale from 0 to 100.

The data that is examined does not concern the competition between brands, but the percentage of positive opinions present on the web for each chain taken into consideration.

The ranking

In first place, with a better online reputation, we find Domino's Pizza, with a score of 61.4, followed by Pizza Hut (60). An unsettling fact for everyone that in the country of pizza par excellence, the fast food restaurants of which one has a more positive opinion are those in which this specialty is the protagonist, albeit with a different interpretation?

Perhaps this indicates to us that we are becoming less critical and patriotic towards the reinterpretations of our traditional dishes.

The third place in the ranking is occupied by KFC (55.2), a reality present on the national territory for many fewer years than the fast food giants dedicated to burgers. Fried chicken, perhaps thanks to the US TV series, has conquered us in a short time and online we talk about it all in all well.

Speaking of burgers: Italy is fascinated by a well-made burger. In fact, in fourth place, for online opinions, ranks Burgez (53.2), ahead of Burger King (52.9) and even McDonald's (49.2).

In seventh and eighth place pizza returns, but this time with an Italian chain: Alice Pizza with its Roman-style pizzas in a pan (40.8), while Spontini (26.4) gets a position for the excellent and much talked about pizza to the Milanese slice.

Americahni closed the ranking again, with Starbucks coffee and sweets (19.7), followed by colossal Subway sandwiches (16.8).

Data based on Hashtags

Despite the overwhelming victory of Domino's, McDonald's, followed almost closely by Starbucks, Burger King, and then KFC and Subway, when it comes to hashtag searches.
